The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
“Although the White Witch knew the Deep Magic well
enough, her knowledge only went back as far as the
dawn of time. If she could have gone back a little further
into the stillness and darkness before time began, she
would have known that when a willing victim died in the
place of a traitor, the Stone Table would crack and Death
itself would work backwards!”
Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy are evacuated from London during the war
and are sent to live in a house in the country. While playing hide and seek,
Lucy stumbles through a mysterious wardrobe into the enchanted Kingdom
of Narnia and meets Mr Tumnus, a Faun, who tells her that the once peaceful
land of talking beasts, dwarves and giants, has been turned into a place
“where it is always winter and Christmas is outlawed”, by the evil
powers of the White Witch.Lucy Returns through the wardrobe
to share her adventure with her brothers and sister. At first,
they do not believe her, but eventually they all find their way
into Narnia. The children meet Mr and Mrs Beaver and learn
about an ancient prophecy, that when four children sit
at the four thrones at Cair Paravel, peace will come to the land.
The Beavers tell the children that the true King of Narnia, Aslan the
wise and virtuous Lion, who has not been seen for many years
is on the move. The ice and snow is starting to melt and the
powers of the White Witch are beginning to fade in the presence
of Aslan. The children meet the great Lion and he prepares them
for the battle ahead, but the White Witch calls upon the Deep
Magic to make one final stand.
